"Avoid at all cost" kind of place.

Listen, I like a great dive bar, a place to grab good bar food, and cheap drinks, but the "transformation" of Rum Shack to CJS Island Grill should maybe try again. It is an unfortunate situation because it has a fantastic location on the strip and has a lot of space...maybe too much space.

First, they try to lure you in with various drink specials but even with the specials, my Magic Hat beer was still double the cost of a domestic and that is ridiculous, you may as well go to World of Beer...continuing on.

My friend and I decided to attempt the egg rolls with the plum sauce to test out the food. If they turned out to be decent, I would attempt the entrees. The egg rolls had dried out chicken pieces in the roll, they came out lukewarm, and the plum sauce tasted like it literally went from the jar/can to the serving bowl to my mouth...no attempt to doctor it up. Lame.

The overall menu is a sad attempt at being "island like" but I would just keep your money and go elsewhere. And don't even get me started on their Ribeye that has more mango like things on it than all of Miami. Lake Worth has plenty of other places to go for Happy Hour or drinks in general.

New Lake Worth restaurant.

Update:

This place has since closed. Sorry folks.

Lake Worth has a new food spot called Pietro's Plump Tomato. Tried the Chicken Mozz Panini and Eva had the Pesto Pasta.
My Panini was delicious, the mozz was fresh, the chicken was moist and not dry at all, bread was nice and crisp, and of course the pesto was the star of the dish.
The huge pluses to the restaurant was its location, for Lake Worth to not have a place that caters to vegans, foodies, and people who like to eat organic...Pietro's is a great addition.
The inside is cute and does have a big screen tv, but because the restaurant is downtown, if you can, sit outside and enjoy.

Dinner at The Pelican.

So there is this little (and I mean little) Indian restaurant in Lake Worth, FL called The Pelican. It's open everyday until noon for breakfast and then Fri it opens for dinner. This is where my love for all things lamb came from.

I always get the Lamb Karahi every Fri night that I go. They don't always trim the lamb fat so if fat and some grease bother you, I would just stick to chicken here. I get the Karahi extra spicy, although for non spicy food people I would again stick to something else or order it "less spicy". My standing order: extra spicy Karahi, extra green chutney (which Tara makes herself), extra Naan, rice (be careful and look out for the Cardamom pieces) and extra napkins. I like to rip off a piece of Naan, put a portion of lamb on, throw on some rice and put more spice on by spooning on some chutney...and enjoy! They tend to give you some dessert that cools you down, although I'm not a huge dessert fan nor do I enjoy cooling down, I like the burn. But the dessert is yummy too.

The Pelican isn't the cheapest food option, particularly in Lake Worth, but the place is tiny and Tara is always great. And sometimes you may find yourself waiting for service so that may be an issue at times. But if you love Indian food and are in Lake Worth on a Friday for dinner, stop in. No reservations though.
